About the event
"A Handbag?"
The Asylum Players present The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde.
A trivial comedy for serious people.
Weaving a web of lies is always tricky. Weaving that web while attempting to navigate perceptive, if silly, friendships, stern aunts, excessively pretty wards, a thoroughly determined love interest and a steadily decreasing number of cucumber sandwiches is downright impossible. Yet that is precisely what Jack Worthing and his best friend Algernon Moncrieffe are attempting to do.
It also turns out to be vitally important that one, or even both of them, be called Ernest....
Oscar Wilde's wonderfully cutting satire of the Victorian upper classes comes to The Blue Room this summer.
